Carla Gombar was born in Pforzheim, Germany. From her childhood she was surrounded by art, as her father owned an antiques store. Carla was given her first set of oils when she was nine, although she did not fully immerse herself in painting until the birth of her first child. As an autodidact(self-taught artist), Carla experimented with different techniques and styles of painting for nine years. She ultimately focused on the works of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Out of these styles Carla derived the inspiration for her painting as it is now. Her paintings utilize ornamental forms and fantastic colors.  Artist's Statement: "My style was mostly influenced by french painters of the 20's. I have been inspired to continue at that point where artists of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco area stopped working."
