Michael Gorban began his art studies in Kishinev when he was nine years old, each day studying sketching for two hours and painting for another two. At 18 he went to study at the Academy in Kishinev and completed with honors four years of art studies "at a level which I cannot say is met in the Western world.”

At the end of his studies at the Lvov Art Academy, Gorban was primed for a grand entrance to the professional art world - he simultaneously exhibited his works in three different exhibitions in the Republic of Moldavia and in a national art show in Moscow.

In 1986 Gorban was invited to exhibit his paintings at the Hermitage Museum in Leningrad where his works were displayed beside the likes of Salvador Dali, Kandinsky and Chagall. Most artists can only dream of showing their work in one of the world's largest and most prestigious museums, and Gorban, at age 30, was the youngest artist to receive this honor.

"Painting is a sensual experience," claims Gorban today from his studio in Petach Tivka, near Tel Aviv. “I will not sign my name until I am completely satisfied.”
