Oliviero Savinio was born in Arluno in the province of Milan in 1950. Having started painting at a young age, he won first prize in a regional school painting contest. At the age of 15 he had his first group art exhibition. He fortified his skills at Brera Academy, an arts school in Milan. Savinio's favorite subjects are rural villages in the Italian countryside. He appreciates the sense of timelessness these villages instill in the viewer, and wishes to capture this aspect in his paintings.
