Born in Chartes in 1940, Pierre Godet studied at the School of
Beaux-Arts of Rouen from 1950 to 1959. He blends the school of
impressionism with the open line French school of the
Dufys. As an intuitive colorist, he fills his paintings with
beauty and warmth, diffusing light evenly throughout the canvas. He
spontaneously captures a scene in it's most simple form, without
superfluous composition. His compositions are so well mastered that they
almost looks easy. Godet focuses on everyday life, choosing subjects and
sights which inspire relaxation. His optimistic view is felt in his
work: an afternoon on the beach, children at play, or a coffee shop's
terrace, images of happiness.
